Stake History[]

Stake Founding 1908[]

The first president of Garland (Bear River) Stake was Milton H. Welling. He would later win election to serve two consecutive terms as US Congressman for Utah's 1st District (1917-1921). In 1920 he declined to run for his congressional seat and ran unsuccessfully as a Democratic candidate for the US Senate. Afterwards, he returned to his business and religious pursuits and state politics, serving as Utah's Secretary of State from 1928 until 1937. In the 1940s, he served as an auditor with the US Army Air Force as well as the War Assets Administration in Salt Lake City. He died at the age of 71.

Brigham City Utah Temple[]

On 23 Sept 2012 the Brigham City Utah Temple was dedicated by LDS Church apostle, Elder Boyd K Packer. It is the 14th temple of the church completed in the state of Utah and stands in central plaza in the city. The building features twin spires faced with pre-cast white limestone concrete. It has two ordinance rooms and three sealing rooms.
